Can the desire for power become so strong that a leader destroys the very nation he seeks to rule?
Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese military strategist and philosopher, wrote extensively about the nature of power, leadership, and the consequences of reckless ambition.
His teachings emphasize that wise leadership preserves strength and stability, while corrupt or selfish rulers may sacrifice their own people and country in pursuit of control.
“An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.”
— Commonly attributed to Sun Tzu, though not found in the original text of The Art of War (5th century BCE); the attribution is debated.
